About us

Kawoznawca is an independent, educational resource on specialty coffee. We explain brewing methods, variety profiles and the character of growing regions in language that is clear for someone just starting out, and precise enough for someone who has been brewing for years.

Who writes Kawoznawca

My name is Cezary Dmowski. By day I'm a software engineer - I've been building software for over twenty years - and I caught the specialty coffee bug the way most people do: from one genuinely good espresso that didn't taste like "vending-machine coffee". I haven't been brewing since childhood; I'm an enthusiast who went deep into the subject and, yes, even took a barista course. Because if you already love something, it's worth understanding why it works.

In Kawoznawca I combine tradition with modernity: the patience of manual brewing and good beans on one side, and data, structure and tools on the other. I treat technical knowledge as a filter - I check sources, organize concepts and describe them so they're useful, not just impressive.

Why we do this

The Polish specialty coffee market is growing, but reliable knowledge in Polish is still scarce - and good, structured English-language coverage is exactly what this site is starting to add. Much of what's out there is either roaster marketing or translations that lose context. We want to change that: to describe the most important, recurring concepts once, well and honestly.

How we work with content

Every page should be genuinely useful, not filler. Region data comes from open sources (including production statistics), variety profiles are based on World Coffee Research, and method descriptions on real brewing practice. We cite sources alongside the content and verify facts before publishing.

Independence and recommendations

Some links to specific coffees may be affiliate links - if you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend what we consider worthwhile, and we always label sponsored links. This lets us keep the site free of paywalls. Before we publish our first verified coffee recommendations, the best place to start is the guide on how to start with specialty.
